A spiritual organization, now the Archconfraternity of Christian Mothers, whose charter was enacted in the Fall of 1949, is made up of women from our church whose main goals are the Catholic education of children and the welfare of St. John the Baptist Parish Community and Church.
Every woman is called to spiritual motherhood. Through devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows and various activities, the Confraternity of Christian Mothers strives to assist the pastor and parish community to uphold Catholic Christian values by promoting the spiritual growth of individuals and families by prayer, the practice of virtues, and encouraging one another. Meetings are generally held on the third Tuesday of each month from September to April. Non-members can also participate by taking part in the many activities held throughout the year to promote family, fellowship, and devotion.
All men and women 50 and up are invited to gather in Monsignor Farri Hall located in St. John the Baptist Pastoral Center, 1501 Virginia Avenue, Monaca for fellowship, bingo, cards, games or just plain fun every first Wednesday of the month from 12:00Noon to 3:00PM (see bulletin for date/time changes). Light snacks and drinks will be provided. Come and join in; meet old friends, make new friends!
As a branch of the fraternal service organization, K of C members seek strength in solidarity, security through unity of purpose, and devotion to a holy cause. They are dedicated to aiding their country, families and the Faith.
Our parish, in conjunction with St. Frances Cabrini Parish, Center Township, conducts a Grief Share Program for those suffering loss. Grief Share small group sessions are held at various times throughout the year for a number of consecutive weeks. The program utilizes a series of DVDs and open discussion to help with the journey of grief. Check the bulletin for future session announcements.
Through the Pregnancy and Parenting Program, Catholic Charities offers supportive services to women who may find themselves in a crisis pregnancy or to new mothers and fathers as they contend with the transitions surrounding the arrival of each new life. Support takes many forms—baby items, counseling and life skills are a few ways we help. This is a completely free service that is offered until the unborn child is one year of age. All clients will receive free baby items at each visit and items are based on donations. Services are offered to all regardless of religious affiliation, race, marital status, sex, age, or socio-economic status. If you have any questions, please call 724.775.0758.
